About 2 weeks ago, Ellen Stagg came over to my place and took some natural light reference shots of me for artist Van Rijn, as picked me to be his model for his collaboration with her. I can't wait to see his finished pieces! His style reminds me a bit of the paintings in the catlady's house in "A Clockwork Orange", so I'm totally diggin' it!
Here's my backside:

The story of how I got 86'd from my own birthday, a comic retelling of what was actually a pretty unpleasant experience.
Since I've gotten a few emails regarding ridiculous rumors circulating about what happened, here goes the actual tale:This past Friday night I was having a fabulous time at my birthday party! I arrived around midnight and by 2am, a lot of my best friends and favourite people were there. Some people were even so kind as to fly in just for my birthday and there were a few others that just happened to be in town last week, so I was really stoked. I was pleasantly buzzed on 2 drinks, as I'm not that much of a drinker and had just gotten my bottle and lovely roses courtesy of the adorably hot DJ Jess.
My group was at one end of the club at a table--I wasn't drinking at this point and had just cracked open my bottle to share with everyone, the music was EXCELLENT so I had to get up and dance! I was wearing a teeny tiny Gaultier strapless mini dress and my flaming hot pink McQueen stilettos. The outfit was very tight, so I decided I should run to the bathroom first so I wouldn't pee mah pants on the dance floor :P

I get google alerts sent to my email account daily for "Darenzia". Generally, I use these alerts to keep abreast of any mis-use or copyright infringement--that's my cover story at least. Really, I just like to see what people are sayin' about me. I get a lot of funny ones though like "Darenzia Bukkake!" or "Darenzia Cum Swap Creampie Fest!", and it just makes me wonder..."Jeez...you'd think I would remember having done those things!!!"
Oh well...the internet is funny.
Some of my friends complain that their google alerts are boring. Well, Corwin Prescott, today's your lucky day!!!
CORWIN PRESCOTT JIZZBLASTED MY PUSSY!!!!
This is my pussy:

Corwin Prescott aimed his yogurt cannon right at my big black pussy and bukakke bukakke bukkakke tapioca pudding everywhere.
YOU'RE WELCOME, CORWIN!

There's a lot of upheaval and change going on over at Darenzia Inc. lately and quite a bit of news for me to share with you, my dear, loyal readers, very soon...but first...I'm getting back into the swing of performing regularly!
On Sunday, July 11th I'll be performing once again at the World Famous Lizard Lounge in Dallas, TX for my dear friend, fellow model and all-around amazing person Angela Ryan's birthday party!
This will be one of more my elaborate shows (only the best for Ms. Ryan!!) so be sure not to miss it!

Also *wink wink* my birthday is coming up soon as well on June 26th...I'll be in Philly shooting a short film so there's no party for me this year :( but I'm really excited about what I'm working on! For those of you that inquired about things I may desire...here's a little list. Gifts are always appreciated, but are never necessary! My mailing addy will be changing very soon, so please email me before shipping anything to that address in order to ensure it is still valid.
Please note: I am currently in the process of moving (either staying in NYC* or relocating to LA), dissolving my partnership, as well as prepping for performances, shooting, etc. -- therefore there may be a delay in email responses. I will do my best to stay on top of communications during the next month or so. If your message is urgent regarding time-sensitive bookings or matters that require immediate attention, please make a note of that in the subject line. Thank you for understanding.
*I am also possibly looking to sublet my current Manhattan apartment. Details here.

I got reallllllly behind on blogging for a bit. Why? Because I was busy gallivanting all over NYC/LA getting up to all kinds of mischief!
Here's me a few weeks back with my fellow Penthouse girlies Ryan Keely, Victoria Zdrok and Justine Joli at the Caligula Maximus afterparty! Photo by Lia Chang I look really short. I swear I'm 5'5"! In the second we're joined by GNR's guitarist Bumblefoot. I am smiling like an idiot. I was in a really good mood apparently. I also don't look nearly as short either...perhaps a tad hydrocephalic though...
Thank you Lainie for inviting me out!

And speaking of Justine, you can check her and I out checkin' each other out in the Girls Of Penthouse Pet of the Year Special 2010 issue out now! Photos by Ellen Stagg

First, you may have noticed some changes here on my blog. I think I've finally fixed my feed, which you can now (hopefully) subscribe to easier and you can also now subscribe via email, either by checking out the sidebar of my blog's homepage or via the feed's email link.
Anyway, I'm going to address an issue that's very personal to me and something that concerns models quite often, especially in regard to collaborative works. I've been reluctant to broach the following topic in any sense publicly, but I see the general acceptance of this behaviour becoming more and more prevalent, and models are expected to simply just deal with it in silence, lest they be seen as someone who rocks the proverbial boat. Too bad I've never really been the silent type...
While I try to never take myself too seriously, I do consider myself a creative person and put a great deal of effort into every project I involve myself in-no matter how trivial. While some of my work is obviously fluff shot solely for titillation, I still put 100% of my effort into creating something that I'll feel good about. Time is simply too precious to do anything without purpose or to waste time producing material that is sub-standard. The majority of the work that is highlighted on my sites, the "trade" shoots I have done, are collaborative efforts between myself and the photographer (and anyone else on the creative team). Over the years, I've whittled those I will work with in that capacity down to a very select few that I know will actually treat me as a collaborative partner and not as a mannequin that could simply be swapped out with another. If I have no input or do not share the artistic vision, there is simply no point for me to be a part of the work unless I am being compensated, and even then I generally will only work for compensation if I have an interest in a project. I like to work w/photographers that truly see our efforts as a collaboration and that respect me as both an artist and a human being. Sadly, sometimes I make a bad judgement call or get let down. It doesn't happen often...but when it does, it knocks the wind right out of me.
Many times I will come to a collaboration equipped with an idea, wardrobing, hair/makeup team and a location. I believe in giving everyone credit, and I believe in everyone having input. Most of the time though, it will be just myself and the photographer. Unless you're paying someone or everyone has agreed to YOUR sole vision, I don't think it's a preposterous idea that everyone in a collaboration gets treated like it's an actual COLLABORATION and is entitled to the work.
Photographers inherently own copyright and unfortunately some like to believe that since this is the case, as soon as the shutter on their camera clicks--the vision they've captured is solely their "art" and they need not answer to anyone else involved in the process.
So imagine...you've assembled a team of people-designers that have worked hard to provide you with their wardrobing, makeup and hair artists who rely on photos as documentation of their work, not to mention your own creative efforts, time and money...only to never receive the photos...
...or you're simply trusting another to capture the essence of something you're trying to work through creatively...only to never receive the photos...
...or when inquiring about the photos, being met with constant derision, being told "you're selfish", "difficult", "impatient" or receiving excuse after excuse after excuse--even after a year, and that's if you're lucky enough to even elicit a response at all.
It can be heartbreaking. It can be insulting. It can make you crazy. Ultimately, it just sucks.
My main forms of self-expression are the written word and my physicality. I can keep my writings with me at all times--they are a tangible record of my efforts--I can review or reference that work whenever I may need to. When I put my heart and soul into something in front of the camera, only to never receive it--it's as if it never happened. Bits of my soul lost forever. Slices of time and creative energy wasted with someone undeserving of it. It is truly a violation. In a way, it's like realizing you've been in a bad relationship with an undeserving lover-you've invested a lot of time and emotion into something and it's painful to know you're going to walk away from the experience feeling stupid, empty-handed and just a little worse for wear.
I was a ballet dancer for nearly 18 years. When I quit, modeling became a way to express myself again and filled the void that couldn't be verbalized-allowing the physical expression that is so integral to my being. Shooting for me can be cathartic. I have worked through anger, depression, fear, turned my emotional lows into creative highs--I've expressed pure joy and elation--all in front of the camera. These were things I could not express verbally or in any other fashion. Creating certain images became my therapy. I cannot express the joy I have when both myself and the photographer are inspired and are feeding off of each other's energy...my absolute best shoots have always been the ones where this has occurred--and I've always felt exhausted when they're over--literally physically and mentally drained, but inexplicably...satisfied. It's incredible.
There is a certain amount of comfort one must have with a photographer in order to be able to trust them to capture you at your most vulnerable state--to drop the mask of persona and truly be naked. I love many of the photographers I've collaborated with, many who just by their own creativity and vision have managed to pull more raw, vulnerable emotion out of me than some of my closest friends or lovers. That is a rare sort of trust that is reserved for very few.
Early last year, I went through some personal drama, just like everyone does at some point in their lives. During that time, I threw myself into my work. It was my salvation. I worked so hard during that period of time, and the thought that I may never see that work is a very frightening realization. I am patient, I am understanding. I realize that we all at times can suffer, fall, screw-up and fail. I can understand personal delays. What I cannot accept is a partner in anything who continues to withhold something that I've expressed is vastly important to me, with an excuse that basically means that they believe their time/issues/life/general existence is more important than mine. I cannot tolerate people who refuse to take responsibility for their own actions and instead choose to justify their wrong doings by blaming others. I would be just as guilty if I allowed myself to simply accept that kind of behaviour and let it affect my sanity. Those photos actually mean a lot to me, as does the person who shot them--which makes the situation almost devastating, but I must transcend.
I would really love to show you that work, dear readers. I really would.
I know they're just pretty pictures...but there is just a teeny bit of my soul in every one...
This post is not meant as an act of aggression, and is instead meant to hopefully shed some insight on an issue that plagues the entire community. I am not out to name names or destroy credibility, nor do I have any interest in martyrdom. I am simply asking that we respect those we collaborate with--because what is the point otherwise? Everyone has a chance to make things right. I've had severe artistic, personal and ideological differences with several photographers that were eventually rectified-one recently becoming what is probably my strongest collaborative relationship to date because they communicated with me and we were able to come to a mutual agreement on how we both expected to be treated in terms of our creative works (we still disagree a lot though, but it "works" for us, it's kinda our "thing"...), and that was after nearly two years of not speaking.
Anyway, because you have suffered through my diatribe above after a long drought here on my blog, here's a little oasis to whet your palates...pictures by Aaron Hawks (who falls into the gives me what he promises category) w/Simone Kross :
