The glamour of a photo shoot…
I thought I would take some time to write here to tell you about a day in the life of me on a typical photo shoot!
When people think of a photo shoot they often think glamour… But believe me that’s rarely the case 😉
The site still isn’t live and open to anyone yet but I wanted to take the time to tell you!
Weeks, sometimes MONTHS before a shoot…
This is where it all starts! I get my ideas and inspiration together and start planning the shoot!
Everything from the location, lighting, outfits, hair, make-up, how to get there & black, all of it!
Sourcing the right outfits is the most work, especially if I want something custom made 🙂
The Morning before a shoot…
I wake up say 6am, I then start to cleanse, tone, moisturize and prepare for the photo shoot.
Ensuring outfits are sorted, bags are packed and all my essentials are with me!
I apply my own make-up which takes 1-2 hours per style depending on how intricate it is.
I then spend a good hour on my hair again dependent on style…
Journey to the shoot…
Due to the fact I don’t drive! I then spend on average around 2-3 hours traveling to the shoot.
Once there more time traveling to the location, which most of the time is outside 😉
Once arrived, I have to find the photographer and we usually have another journey by car to the location for the shoot.
Shoot Arrival
Then comes the touching up of make-up and hair, changing into outfits and shoes, carrying heavy bags (if on location), sometimes dodging security guards!
Lights, Camera, Action!
Sometimes the shoots have professional lighting equipment which can take a while to set up and get right.
The posing is usually very bendy lol and is alot of great effort when you are in awkward outfits like latex and heels! It’s like a workout! 😛
This is all tiring work, and sometimes we don’t even stop for breaks!
Uploading & Choosing Images
The photographer usually then goes home, uploads the photos and I then decide on the images to use for the sets here. This is a very lengthly process and takes hours!
I then spend time resizing images and doing some editing to them (what is required) which also takes hours!
Then finally the images are ready and I spend time uploading them to the website ready for you all to view!
